The Present Future by Reggie McNeal
I have started reading The Present Future: Six Tough Questions For The Church again, and the more I read, the more I am firmly convinced that this is the one book that must be read in order to understand where the Church needs to change and what its values and mission must be in order to reach not only the emerging generations, but all generations. If these six tough questions are not addressed by the church, not only will the church become even more and more marginalized to the outskirts of society in the coming years, but I believe that the church will die in America.
My next several posts will be dissecting what is written in this book. I would encourage any of you who read this blog to pick up this book. It will definitely shake your pre-conceived ideas of what the church should be about to the very core.

I pulled up my wish list for Amazon and I put this on a while back.. Guess I'll have to read it :)
Looking forward to your thoughts. I'm in need of a good read maybe I'll go pick it up.
Element was great last nite by the way. Jay, Haley, CJ and I went to go pray in a circle during the stations and when it was his turn to pray he began crying. It was soooo touching to see that God had softened his heart during that moment as we were praying for those people who have been persecuted. See even the youngest can be affected. We talked about it a little on the way home and I think he brought back some things to remember. Personally I liked the basement thing. Very cool to experience what it must be like with overcrowding and how some places are even smaller (i.e.-underground railroad).
Keep up the good work!
Ok - I forgot to reference that CJ started crying during the prayer time. Minor correction :0).
Good point..Jordan
I heard that same siren and thought the same thing about being hidden and secretly worshipping and police coming after us That Element definitely had an impact on me I think we should have that info available at church...do you think I could put it on the info table Adam?
Tena - that's really cool about CJ.
Jordan - yeah, I didn't know if that was scripted or not. Jeff told me that Dave Finnie was possibly going to come and arrest one of us, so when I heard the siren, I was wondering...
Rochelle - it shouldn't be a problem. Remember - it's easier to ask forgiveness...
Oh yeah, and Tena - Mike Howard was telling me that that the basement down there possibly was used for the Underground Railroad back in the day. Interesting...
Since this post wasn't really about ELEMENT, i thought i would just put my two cents in obout the book. I have heard this title thrown around a lot by forward thiking people in ministry. I have been told that it is the kind of thought provoking and dream inspiring book that produces heartfelt change. I have not yet read it, but plan to pick it up very soon.
