The Gospel According To The Daily Show

Normally, I don't find Lewis Black that great, funny or profound. But recently, on the Daily Show, he said something that was great, funny (in a disturbing way), and deeply profound.

"The latest astrotourist: American Anousheh Ansari, who spent 11 days in orbit. Price: 20 million dollars. Expensive? You bet? But it was the only way she could achieve her lifelong dream of flying over every single starving person on Earth and yelling, "Hey! Look at what I'm spending my money on!"

I hope she watched the episode.

That definitely wins the award for selfishness ..I hope she saw the show but somehow I doubt it.

This reminds me of an article from the Wittenburg Door (now just The Door) magazine from the 80s. It was entitled, "How a Church can Spend 10 Million Dollars". It had a huge list of charitable activities with the dollar amonunts to the side that totalled 10 million dollars. And then, at the very bottom was this:
"Or,
Build a big, glass church"
I always loved that article.
