Estes Park
If you asked me or my wife where we would want to live if we could live anywhere in the U.S., both of our answers would be Estes Park, Colorado. It's a town in the mountains, about half and hour from Boulder (where CU famously beat West Virginia last night). It's the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, which is amazing. We went up there today as a family, and this is what we did:
- we walked through the downtown shops, of course spending money on shirts and hats and stickers and such. We also bought a caramel apple.
- we went to the Dunraven Inn, which is an Italian food restaurant that my wife used to go to on special occasions growing up. (Her grandparents lived in Estes Park for 25 years, and she would come up and spend the summer with them.)
- we went to the new Starbucks in town and sat out back right next to the river (awesome view).
- we saw the most amazing elk - he had the largest antler rack I've seen on an elk since the famous elk named Samson who wintered in Estes Park (and was shot by a poacher).
- we did not go to the Stanley Hotel this time - made famous by The Shining.
- we did go to a couple of the shops downtown where I cleverly located cards and flowers the day I asked my wife to marry me. We got engaged in Estes Park, up on the pipes that overlook the lake.
It's about an hour and forty-five minutes from where we're staying, but it was definitely worth it.

It looks and sounds like heaven on earth :^)
That picture of the restaurant is beautiful...it reminds me of Clifton Mill in Yellow Springs at Christmas.
I'm glad you all had a great Friday together!
